Abbey Farm

Abbey Farm is the yard at the bottom of Church Street, next to the tithe barn and under Chapel Hill. It is where the village's makers are: Cherries café, Abbey Farm Flowers, and four workshops in the old farm buildings.

Cherries is a licensed café doing local and seasonal food, open every day 10 to 5, families and dogs welcome, with a tapas night once a month and a community breakfast one Sunday a month. Abbey Farm Flowers is pick your own across two fields, from the narcissi in March to the dahlias in October, £20 for a vase full or £10 for a child's jam jar, with a shop selling cut bunches, ceramics, cards and ice creams; nothing is grown under polytunnels because of the abbey remains underneath. The workshops are Josie Holliday's prints and cards in Workshop 1, Clare Hawkes's oil paintings in Workshop 2, Dorset Printmakers in Workshop 3 and a picture gallery in Workshop 4, the last two new in July 2026.

The flowers are open Tuesday to Sunday 10 to 4, weather permitting, and shut for a few weeks after Christmas. The workshops keep their own hours, mostly Tuesday to Sunday and closed Mondays; Abbey Farm's website lists them, and Clare Hawkes is also closed on Wednesdays. Dogs on leads. Park in the village car park off Rodden Row and walk down Church Street.

The Abbey Farm Christmas Fair in the tithe barn, 28 and 29 November 2026, is the one weekend you can count on getting inside the barn. Otherwise come on a summer weekday, let the children pick a jam jar of flowers, and eat at Cherries.
