The pre-school is in Strangways Hall on Market Street. It is a small independent charity, number 1028303, and Ofsted rated it Good at its last inspection on 17 January 2024. It takes children from 2 to 5, and government funded places start at 2.

It runs Monday to Thursday, 9.30am to 3.30pm, in term time. You can book a full day, a morning (9.30 to 12.30) or an afternoon (12.30 to 3.30), add the lunch club from 12 to 1, or an early start from 9am. A session is £15 if your child is not covered by funding. On Fridays there is a stay and play toddler group from 10am to 12 noon.

The leader is Sharon Pugh, who has a foundation degree in early years and Forest School Level 3. Claire Peach works alongside her and Primrose Harmer is the apprentice.

Term dates for 2026/27. Autumn: Monday 7 September to Friday 23 October, half term 26 to 30 October, then Monday 2 November to Friday 18 December. Spring: Monday 4 January to Friday 12 February, half term 15 to 19 February, then Monday 22 February to Thursday 25 March. Easter break Friday 26 March to Friday 9 April. Summer: Monday 12 April to Friday 28 May, half term 31 May to 4 June, then Monday 7 June to Friday 17 July 2027. Staff meeting dates are still to be confirmed.
